Speaking at the launching ceremony of an aviation fuel station at Garowe airport on Saturday, Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni said that it was planned to hold a conference on investment next summer.
“We will hold a conference on investment next summer, which we want to present the rules and what we think to be the opportunities in the investment,” he said.
“We are encouraging the Somali traders and any others to come to the country and we want to welcome them openly and without difficulty.” He added.
Deni who was elected president of Puntland in January 2019, promised in his election campaign to boost trade and investment in Puntland.
Founded in 1998, Puntland has been enjoying peace and stability compared to southern Somalia, but it has not attracted international investors to invest in the region.
