On August 6, 2017, Puntland forces in Garowe have arrested Omar, who works for Horseed Media and Somali Cable TV.
The Media Association of Puntland (MAP) said the arrest is an attack against freedom of speech and repression of the press freedom, and demanded Puntland to free the journalist.
Several journalists were arrested in Puntland in the past few months, raising concerns over the freedom of journalist working in the region.
