Garowe-(Puntland Mirror) Puntland’s President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali has issued on Saturday a decision to pardon a number of prisoners on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.
According to the statement from the Presidential office, the President has pardoned 97 of prisoners except those accused of serious crimes such as murder, rape and terrorism.
This comes before Eid festival in order to ensure prisoners reunite with their families during the Eid festival as outlined in the presidential statement.
Puntland Presidents have usually pardoned groups of prisoners on national and religious holidays.
