Mogadishu-(Puntland Mirror) Somalia’s upper house senators have elected Abdi Hashi Abdullahi as speaker of the upper house on Sunday.

Hashi secured 43 votes, while his rival Musatafe Mohamed Qodah got 9 votes.

The senators also elected Abshir Mohamed Ahmed as the first deputy speaker, and Mowlid Hussein Guhad is the second deputy speaker of the upper house.
