Puntland military court sentenced 28 Al-Shabab fighters to 15-20 years in prison

Garowe-(Puntland Mirror) Puntland’s military court on Tuesday has sentenced 28 of Al-Shabab fighters to 15-20 years in prison, according to prosecutor of the military court.

Speaking to the reporters in Garowe, the prosecutor of the military court Abdikarim Hassan Firdiye said the sentenced members are above the age of 15.

Firdiye also mentioned at least 26 of Al-Shabab members will be rehabilitated who are under the age of 15.

The sentenced members were part of 97 Al-Shabab fighters captured during the deadly fighting between Puntland government forces and Al-Shabab group in Mudug and Nugal regions in March this year.

In June, the Puntland military court sentenced 43 of Al-Shabab fighters to death who were above the age of 18, according to the government.
