Heavy fighting between Somali government forces and Al-Shabab fighters erupts in Afgoye town

A resident in Afgoye told to the media that gunfire could be heard in the several parts of the town.

Sunday’s fighting began after Al-Shabab fighters attacked a checkpoint at the gateway of the town, according to the witnesses.

There were no immediate details of casualties from the fighting.
