Gunfire heard in Galkayo town amid ceasefire calls

Galkayo-(Puntland Mirror) Gunshots were heard in the southern part of Galkayo town in Mudug region on Monday afternoon, resident said.

A resident in Galkayo told to the Puntland Mirror the gunfire could be heard in the southern outskirt of the town, near the military barracks that hosts forces loyal to Puntland and Galmudug.

At least 10 people were killed in clashes between forces loyal to Puntland and Galmudug last week.

The tension comes amid ceasefire calls led by traditional elders of Mudug region.
