Puntland lawmakers prepare motion against Vice-President

A Puntland MP, who asked not to be named, told to the Puntland Mirror that they are preparing an impeachment motion against the vice president.

“We are preparing an impeachment motion against the Vice-President because he violated the constitution of Puntland when he signed a deal with politicians from Somaliland during his visit in Mogadishu in the last weeks.” The MP told Puntland Mirror.

There is no comment from the Vice-President on the motion against him so far.

At least 34 lawmakers have to sign a motion for it to be open for debate inside the parliament, according to the Puntland’s constitution. To sack the Vice-President, two-thirds of the 66 members of the parliament would need to vote in favor of the motion.
