A gunman opened fire in an Orlando, Florida, nightclub early Sunday, killing about 20 people and injuring 42 in a shooting authorities classified as a domestic terror incident.
Gunshots erupted at a gay club called Pulse about 2 a.m. local time, police said. The gunman took hostages, had a “suspicious device” on him and carried an assault type weapon and a handgun, Police Chief John Mina said at an early morning televised briefing. The gunman, who authorities said wasn’t from the area, was shot dead by police.
