Mogadishu-(Puntland Mirror) At least one Al-Shabab fighter was killed in US airstrike in southern Somalia, US Africa Command said in a statement.
“In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. forces conducted a precision airstrike in Somalia against al-Shabaab on Thurs., Sept. 7 at approximately 2:45 p.m. local Somalia time, killing one (1) terrorist.” US Africa Command said in a statement.
“The operation occurred near Baraawe, Somalia, about 270 kilometers southwest of the capital, Mogadishu.” The statement added.
It was the second operation against Al-Shabaab carried out by US during this week. On Tuesday, US launched an airstrike and killed three Al-Shabaab fighters in Bay region.
