Puntland security forces kill at least 20 suspected Al-Shabab in Mudug region

Galkayo-(Puntland Mirror) At least 20 militants were killed when Puntland security forces launched a raid on suspected Al-Shabab hideouts in a remote area between Jehdin and Godod of Mudug region in central Somalia, official and residents said.

The officer of Puntland’s ministry of information in Mudug region, Abdinasir Badal Khalaf told reporters in Galkayo that the raid took place on Wednesday morning in a remote area between Jehdin and Godod villages.

Khalaf said Wednesday morning they raided Al-Shabab hideouts in remote area between Jehdin and Godod and killed more fighters they believed were planning an attack against Puntland forces in Godod village.

According to the residents, at least 20 suspected Al-Shabab were killed and numerous of armed vehicles were destroyed in the raid.

Meanwhile, Somalia’s Galmudug tiny administration said at least 22 of its soldiers were killed when Puntland security forces backed by US drones attacked their base in southeastern of Galkayo town in Mudug region.

In March this year, Puntland government forces battled with Al-Shabab militants in coastal villages of Mudug and Nugal regions, during the battle at least 200 militants were killed and 97 others captured.
