Mogadishu-(Puntland Mirror) Somali Parliament Speaker Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawaari resigned on Monday, deputy speaker Abdiweli Ibrahim Mudey told MPs.
The MPs were scheduled to hold a meeting in Mogadishu on Monday to vote for the motion against the speaker.
In the past few weeks, a great dispute was erupted in the parliament and the cabinet after some of the MPs mostly ministers filed a motion to sack Jawaari.
The dispute was lasting more than a month, and delayed the operations of the Somali federal government based in Mogadishu.
The 72, has been in office since 2012.
However, his resign is expected to end the political standoff in the government.
