Bari police commissioner Colonel Abdihakim Hussein Yousuf told reporters that the killer is in the hands of the police, he declined to provide further details.
It was unclear why the former deputy governor was killed, but reports say the killing is related to clan revenge.
On Monday, the former Bari deputy governor Khalar Ismael Abdulle also known as (Buncun) was shot dead in Bosaso port town.
