Mogadishu-(Puntland Mirror) Suspected al-Shabaab militants fired mortars on densely populated areas of Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, causing at least five explosions, Somali police officer Ahmed Shiino told Bloomberg News by phone.
Meanwhile, residents in the capital who spoke to the Puntland Mirror said they heard a huge explosions and gunfire in the parts of the town.
There were no immediate reports of casualties from Tuesday’s blasts.
Al-Shabaab, an al-Qaeda-linked group, has been fighting in Somalia since 2006 to impose a its version of Islamic law.
