Mogadishu-(Puntland Mirror) Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire on Tuesday traveled to Saudi Arabia.

The aim of the trip is not clear, but the Prime Minister said in a tweet that he will pay an official visit to Saudi Arabia where he will meet with officials in Riyadh.

The trip will mark the first time that Khaire has traveled to Saudi Arabia since taking office in March 2017.

The relationship between the two countries was not as warm since the Gulf crisis started in 2017 between Saudi-alliance and Qatar, which Somali Federal Government took a neutral stance.

In late 2017, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo paid a visit to Riyadh. At that time Somalia has received $50 million in aid from Saudi Arabia, seemed that the relationship between the two nations is recovering.
