Garowe-(Puntland Mirror) Puntland Security Forces (PSF) fired several mortars at Al-Shabab hideouts in the Galgala Mountains on Monday, PSF said in a post of Facebook.
In the post, PSF claimed to have killed more militants and destroyed bases during the bombing, but Puntland Mirror was unable to independently verify the casualties.
Last week, dozens of Puntland soldiers were killed by Al-Shabab attack on a military base in Galgala Mountains.
In the past few days, Garowe vowed to step up combat against the Al-Shabab extremists to clean up its held areas in the Galgala Mountains.
Al-Shabab has been active in Galgala Mountainous areas of Puntland since 2010, and carried out a number of attacks.
