Garowe-(Puntland Mirror) Puntland forces are preparing an offensive against Al-Shabab militants after it attacked on army base in Galgala Mountains earlier Thursday.
Speaking to local media in Garowe, Puntland’s Minister of Security Abdi Hersi Ali Qarjab said that Puntland is preparing an operation during this month.
“We hope to launch an offensive against the perpetrators in the holy month of Ramadan,” the minister said.
“I also want to tell the government forces wherever they are to be ready.” He added.
The move comes hours after fighters from Al-Shabab attacked on Puntland army base in Af-uru Village of Galgala Mountains, at least 25 Puntland Daraawiish soldiers were killed in that attack, according to independent sources.
The attack was the worst single day of losses for Puntland soldiers since the fighting between Puntland forces and Al-Shabab militants started in 2010.
