Abdirashid Mohamed Hersi has been sick for the past few days, according to the sources.
He was parliament speaker of Puntland government between 2009 and 2013.
The deceased official also served as minister of public works and transport, as well as the minister of fishery and marine resources under Abdiweli Mohamed Ali administration.
