Ahmed Kismayo said he resigned due to personal reasons, according to his Facebook post.
The former journalist turned-politician said that the Puntland president Abdiweli Mohamed Ali formally accepted his resignation as chairman of the Puntland electoral commission.
He was elected as chairman of the Puntland electoral commission in April this year.
