Garowe-(Puntland Mirror) A consultation workshop on Garowe strategic urban development plan has opened at PDRC in Garowe on Tuesday.
In the workshop, it was participated officials from the government, including Garowe mayor, Mohamed Hassan Godir, Nugal governor and local traditional elders.
Firstly, Garowe mayor, Hassan Godir has spoken at the workshop, and suggested that the aim of the Tuesday’s gathering that, it is all about consultations of the strategic development of Garowe. Similarly, the mayor recommended that there are also in the plan, strategies assigned for separating accommodations zones from the rangelands inhabitants.
On his side, Osman Mohamoud Ow-Osman, an official from UN-HABITAT, cleared his agency will help Garowe local municipality in diverse areas including, infrastructure development, water management, health and education.
Speaking at the workshop, Islan Ise Islan Mohamed and Sultan Saeed Mohamed Garaase (local traditional elders) have welcomed this strategic urban development plan for Garowe city led by Garowe municipality and the UN-HABITAT. They appealed for Garowe residents to stand with the government, so that this huge plan will succeed, as it was anticipated.
Garowe, Puntland’s capital, it has been experiencing a wave of development for the last years, as it expanded rangelands close to it.
