U.S. airstrike near Mogadishu kills two Al-Shabab fighters

Mogadishu-(Puntland Mirror) Two Al-Shabab fighters were killed in U.S. airstrike in Somalia, the U.S. Africa command said in a statement on Thursday.

The strike occurred in the village of Mubaraak, approximately 37 miles west of Mogadishu on Tuesday (Sep 11).

“The U.S. airstrike was conducted against an enemy fighting position in self-defense after U.S. and partner forces came under attack. We currently assess two terrorists were killed and one terrorist was wounded in the strike.” The statement said, adding that no civilians were injured or killed in this airstrike.

According U.S. Africa command, one Somali soldier was killed and two others were wounded in the attack with Al-Shabab.

In September, U.S. military carried out four airstrikes against Al-Shabab in Somalia, leaving several militants dead.
