Somalia Arrests African Peacekeepers Accused of Selling Supplies

Somali police arrested five peacekeepers with the African Union mission in the war-torn country, accusing them of selling equipment including fuel and ammunition.

Ten Somalis were also arrested in the operation in the south of the capital, Mogadishu, police commissioner Mohamed Sheikh Hamud said in remarks broadcast on Radio Shabelle. He didn’t specify the nationalities of the peacekeepers arrested.

A spokesman for the African force, Joe Kibet, confirmed the arrests when contacted by phone and said the mission will release a statement with more details soon.
