Garowe-(Puntland Mirror) Puntland’s President jets into Mogadishu on Sunday ahead of Somalia’s presidential election, according to presidential sources.

Abdiweli Mohamed Ali will meet with the lawmakers representing Puntland in the Somali upper house and lower house in the Somali capital Mogadishu, according to sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity told to the Puntland Mirror.

The sources said that the president will advise the MPs to vote for presidential candidate, who is originally from Puntland.

The current Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmake and the incumbent president Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud are among 23 candidates competing for president.

Puntland Mirror understands that the Puntland President is backing PM Omar Abdirashid who comes from Puntland in northeastern Somalia.

Somalia’s presidential election is set for February 8.
