The image was initially published on 31 July 2024, which predates the Lido Beach attack.

This image shared on Facebook allegedly showing a dog with a human arm at Mogadishu’s Lido Beach following an attack, is FALSE.


The image was posted on Facebook on August 3, 2024, with a Somali caption that translates to: “A dog carrying a human arm after the Lido Beach explosion.”

On 2 August 2024, an attack was reported in Lido Beach, Mogadishu. The attack caused deaths, injuries and destruction of property at the destination frequented by locals and international tourists.

To verify the authenticity of the image, Puntland Mirror performed a Google reverse image search and found that the image predates the Mogadishu’s Lido Beach attack.

The image was initially published here, here, here, here and here on 31 July 2024, with the caption indicating that it was captured in Gaza, Palestine.
